Compeer Financial Awards $156K in General Use Grants
24 Grants Awarded to Organizations in Compeer Territory
Sun Prairie, Wis., (July 23, 2019) – Compeer Financial’s Fund for Rural America, the Farm Credit cooperative’s giving program, has awarded 24 General Use Grants, totaling $156,892. General Use Grants fund initiatives and organizations whose work enriches agriculture and rural America, aligning with Compeer Financial’s mission.
These grants will directly impact the lives of 558,426 people and will touch one million lives.
Since the program was established in 2018, the Fund has awarded General Use Grants to 122 community organizations, totaling nearly $675,500. The Fund will offer this grant again in November 2019 to provide funding for early 2020.
“The General Use Grant Program is integral to Compeer Financial as an organization,” said Karen Schieler, Senior Corporate Giving Specialist. “The impact of these grants shows that we truly are committed to enriching agriculture and rural America, and fulfilling the commitment to the farmers and communities we serve.”
The 24 organizations in Compeer Financial’s territory receiving support from the General Use Grant Program, include:

Angelic Organics Learning Center – to fund beginning farmer financial education
Conservation and Agriculture Partners – to fund education on careers in agriculture
Greater Joliet Area YMCA – to fund farm-to-table programming
Olympia Pacesetters 4-H Club – to cover expenses for 4-H emergency mini food pantries
Princeton Public Arts Commission – to promote heathy lifestyles and local businesses
Rural Schools Collaborative, Inc. – to fund local agriculture-based projects for students
Section 11 FFA – to purchase a judging card Scantron machine
White Oaks Therapeutic Equestrian Center – general programming support
Minnesota
Agricultural Utilization Research Institute – to fund mechanical dewatering technologies
Catholic Charities of the Diocese of St. Cloud – to support food insecurity efforts by replacing two commercial refrigerators
Environmental Initiative – programming support for Headwaters Agriculture Sustainability Partnership
Faribault County 4-H – to support youth showmanship
LSS of Minnesota – to support food insecurity efforts with kitchen equipment replacement project
Ruby’s Heart – to support food insecurity efforts by with a refrigerated semi-trailer
Sanford Health Network – to purchase an EKG for improved cardiac response
SCC North Mankato Campus Foundation – to purchase a weather station and bovine injection simulator for agribusiness program
Sustainable Farming Association of Minnesota – for programing support of the Sustainable Farming Association Silvopasture network
Waseca County 4-H Youth Development – to fund the enhancement of 4-H project education

Baraboo Children’s Museum, Inc – to help fund a Farm to Family children’s museum exhibit
Envision Greater Fond du Lac Agri-Business Council – to support an agriculture exhibit at the Children’s Museum of Fond du Lac
Marshfield Clinic Health System Foundation Inc. – to fund a rollover protection structure presentation at the 2020 Farm Technology Days in Eau Claire
OGRAIN – to support OGRAIN Compass, a financial planning tool for prospective organic grain producers across Compeer Financial’s territory.
School of Agriculture, University of Wisconsin-Platteville – to support the student-managed compost bagging business project
Wisconsin Lutheran Child & Family Service, Inc. / Christian Family Solutions – to support the rural telehealth program
