Ahl, Erickson, Fischer, Wedig, Wise Elected to Compeer Financial
Board of Directors
Sun Prairie, Wis., (October 6, 2021) – Compeer Financial, a member-owned Farm Credit cooperative serving Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin, is pleased to announce the results of its 2021 board of director election. Member-owners elected Ashley Ahl of Merrillan, Wis., Daniel Erickson of Alden, Minn., Larry Fischer of Sleepy Eye, Minn., Kimberly Wedig of Darlington, Wis. and Stephanie Wise of Joliet, Ill. to serve on Compeer Financial’s board of directors.
Ahl, Erickson, Fischer and Wise are all incumbent members of the board and Wedig is a newly-elected director.
ASHLEY AHL
Ashley Ahl is a nursery and Christmas tree farmer, working with her brother on their third-generation farm in Merrillan, Wis. She serves on Compeer Financial’s Audit and Finance Committee. Ahl serves on the USDA Christmas Tree Promotion Board’s Promotion Committee and is a participating member of the Wisconsin Christmas Tree Producers Association.
DANIEL ERICKSON
Daniel Erickson partners with his wife in their family farming operation in Alden, Minn. He serves on Compeer Financial’s Enterprise Risk, Legislative Affairs, and Young, Beginning, Small Farmer Committees. He also serves on the AgriBank District Farm Credit Council.
LARRY FISCHER
Larry Fischer is the president and treasurer of Fischer Dairy, a family corporation in Sleepy Eye, Minn. He also is president of Fischer Ridge LLC, a family partnership dedicated to the preservation of sensitive farmland and enhancement of wildlife. Fischer serves on Compeer Financial’s the Audit and Finance and Corporate Giving Committees.
KIMBERLY WEDIG
Kimberly Wedig and her husband, Joe, have dairy and cow-calf show cattle beef operation in Darlington, Wis. She has served on Compeer Financial’s Client Advisory Council and was elected to serve on Compeer’s Nominating Committee for two years. Wedig was a member of the Lafayette County Livestock Auction Committee and co-chaired and clerked the auction at the Lafayette County Fair.
STEPHANIE WISE
Stephanie Wise is a corn, soybean and popcorn farmer and the fifth generation on her family’s farm. She also is involved in crop protection product sales, fertilizer sales and owns a small grain and milling operation. Wise serves on Compeer Financial’s Compensation and Governance Committee and Legislative Affairs Committee.
The Compeer Financial board of directors sets business direction, and monitors and evaluates operations, all while taking into consideration client needs, the changing marketplace and Compeer’s commitment to serving agriculture and rural America.
Elections took place via mailed ballots in September. Directors are elected across Compeer’s three regions, which follow state boundaries for the 144 counties the organization serves in Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin. In total, there are 17 members of the board; 14 of whom are elected by member-owners and three of whom are appointed by the board to offer additional expertise and insights.
Additionally, 24 candidates were elected to a one-year term on the nominating committee, which is responsible for identifying, evaluating and nominating suitable candidates for director positions and future nominating committee positions.
